Disaster Relief Programmes
Family Vision Foundation reaches out to the victims of natural disasters and besides providing them much needed relief materials, we also conduct emotional rehabilitation programmes for the survivors and their families.
Nepal earthquake ReliefA series of terrible earthquakes struck Nepal in April 2015. Nearly 10,000 people lost their lives and many more were injured and rendered homeless. Family Vision Foundation, along with dedicated relief workers in Kathmandu, collected and distributed relief supplies - blankets, rice, daal, buckets, soap and sugar - to earthquake affected families in 15 villages: Chipling, Shilkhu, Dee, Chitra, Palau, Kalika Devi, Nawalpur, Bhnage, Phokare, Punter, Take, Rayaltar, Bharang & Tauke
We were also able to send 200 tents to Okhaldunga District in Nepal. Many thanks to Indigo Airlines for flying these tents down to Kathmandu for free! Many thanks also to school students in Delhi, Gurgaon and NOIDA for helping us with this massive relief effort. While the physical after effects of an earthquake are visible for all to see, the emotional fallout is a little more hidden but in many ways, more long lasting. Family Vision conducted a total of 6 emotional rehabilitation workshops in Kathmandu. – 3 for school students and 3 for teachers. These workshops were attended by 240 middle and senior school students and their teachers and were deeply appreciatedattending. |
