Behtar Bachpan ("Better Childhood") is an umbrella project which provides much needed educational, emotional, material, medical and community support to needy children from urban and semi-urban slums in and around the National Capital Region. Here are some glimpses of various "Behtar Bachpan" activities conducted by Family Vision Foundation...
Teenagers Making a Difference!
Family Vision Foundation organizes opportunities for high school students to help children from underprivileged backgrounds. We create opportunities for concerned young people to reach out to children from urban slums, and learn the joy of giving selflessley.
Operation Warm Blanket
Winters in North India get COLD! And sadly, the ones most vulnerable to the elements are children. Before deep winter sets in, we in 2012, we arrange for warm clothes and blankets for those exposed to the elements. Here too, we enlist the help of high school students to collect and donate warm clothing to the needy.
Children's Day Events
Every year in November, Family Vision Foundation organizes a mega Children's day carnival for underprivileged kids from all over the National Capital Region.1000 underprivileged children from all over the National capital Region had the time of their lives at our annual carnival, “Khushiyon Ki Bazaar” The children look forward to this event all year as this is one day they can truly be children again without having to worry about anything else.
The kids ate , played, danced, sang, made merry, watched a magic show, listened in rapt attention to a fun storytelling session, played games, won bagfuls of prizes - at absolutely no cost to them!

Equal Opportunity Programmes
We conduct "Equal Opportunity Programmes" with underprivileged kids so as to give them the opportunity to partake of educational, extra-curricular activities that children in normal schools get to enjoy. For example, art teachers in schools conduct craft camps for them, sports teachers conduct sports activities, The children see movies in the school auditoriums and take part in a variety of fun activities.
Encouraging Sports
We distribute sports equipment to children in urban slums. Not only does a healthy mind exist in a healthy body but sports also acts as a positive alternative to anti-social, potentially dangerous behaviours that the children can be tempted to indulge in.
Medical Camps
From time to time we also tie up with hospitals and doctors and conduct medical camps for slum residents. Many children suffering from eye, skin and gastric diseases receive free medical care and are the better for it. At these camps we also give out hygiene packs containing soap, toothbrush, toothpaste hair oil, shampoo and bath towel.
